Update planners with Agenda and HW

  1. "Wealth, Well-being, and the New American Dream" Evidence Organizer and Academic Summary
      1. Teacher reads paragraph 5 with whole class and shows how to circle key terms and underline the author's claims, students may work with a partner to re-read all paragraphs to circle key terms and underline the author's claims and sub-claims.
          • Clues: Sub-claims are in paragraphs 5 and 10
          • Main claim is in paragraph 13
          • Evidence is any facts, surveys, or studies, the author uses to support his claims
      2. Complete Argument/Idea Map
          • Use the marked text to fill in the argument map
      3. Write Academic Summary Using your Argument Map for the quotes and paraphrases (teacher hands out the academic summary template, see teacher key, review instructions with students)
      4. You may do your rough draft on the template, but you must write a final draft out on binder paper, neatly and in ink.
